'Afterglow' was to be my first full-length album, which I worked on in earnest between 2003-2012.

I still know what was left to do production-wise - in fact, I will always know what was left to do - what singers I wanted to sing what part, what instruments needed to be rerecorded, what lyrics needed to be rewritten, etc. As it happens though when you tool around with 7-10 songs over an almost ten year period, you eventually become a bit tired of it and move on

As difficult as I find songwriting to be, I will always be fond of these songs. After all, when I finally finish one, even after years of slogging away at a few lyrics, it does feel earned. So yes, I'm quite proud of them, regardless of how removed I am from them now. And frankly, I don't know if I'll ever write a song more emotionally honest than 'Substrata'. Which reads really wanker-y I know, but it's true!

Oh, before I forget, here are some contributions of various buddies I'd like to give thanks to and highlight:

- Brittany Aquamarine's lovely lead vocal she recorded for 'Full Color' that I lost when an external HD crapped out. This very much still bothers me.

- Sandra Yauch Benedetto's French translation of the 'Save Tomorrow' lyrics, which read great. I still don't know exactly the nuances of the translation but it looks fantastic. Will hopefully use those one day.

- Sarwat Rumi's elegaic lyrics to Pendulum, originally intended for our Serpent Feline project. We've lost touch since she moved from Chicago but I miss her presence and energy dearly. I hope all is good, old buddy.

- Carly Oishi's background vocals on 'Glint' - she also duetted a live version of 'Beguiled' with me back in 2008-ish that I meant to record for the studio version because well, obviously.

- Jon Monteverde's help with productions bits here and there - and being his general solid sounding board self.

- Ted Flynn's music and guitar playing (which I processed the bejeebus out of on this A-Mix version) and Jarrod Whittington's lyrics and background vocals for 'Glint'

So why not, here is 'Afterglow' in all of its raw, demo-y unfinished glory. Be gentle, please - and hopefully, enjoy!
